Her broader research interests include comparative equality jurisprudence, feminist engagements with religious laws and public private divide, Islamic personal law reform.
Background
Nowrin joined the Law School in September 2006. Her doctoral thesis was in the area of gender equality and Islamic personal law with emphasis on development of equality jurisprudence in Canada, South Africa, Tunisia, Morocco and South Asia. Before joining the School she had taught law at Oxford Brookes and at the University of Kent and worked with various Human Rights organisations specialising in gender issues, law reform, alternative dispute resolution and legal aid in South Asia.
