Life as an undergraduate
As a full-time undergraduate student, you will become an important part of the School's close-knit community and fully immerse yourself in campus life.
A wide range of co-curricular activities allows you to gain confidence and real-world experience as well as make new friends and contacts.
Based in Foxhill House on Whiteknights campus, you will have easy access to all the Students' Union facilities, SportsPark and our newly refurbished 24-hour library.
The staff remembered me from the Open Day visit and, when I returned as a student, one of the lecturers greeted me with 'you made it!' Reading really has that personal touch.

Employability boosting activities
Throughout the year, the School hosts a whole series of co-curricular activities. You can participate in competitions and in commercial awareness and networking skills training, with real interaction with practicing solicitors and barristers. Activities include pro bono work, negotiating, mediation, and mooting competitions.
And thanks to donations from generous alumni, the School of Law is able to cover training fees and travel costs for you to carry out the various co-curricular and pro bono activities.
The Law Society
The student-led law society is open to everyone in the School. One of the largest societies on campus, the Society organises a variety of events throughout the year, from quizzes to career fairs.
The Society also boasts a vast network of law firm partnerships and careers contacts and hosts a whole series of academic ventures. Events include mooting and negotiation competitions, careers workshops, and pro bono activities.
These events, which are jointly hosted by top law firms, give you invaluable information and experience to help bulk up your CV.
The Law Society is the best thing to happen to me at the University. I wouldn’t have got involved anywhere as much as I did without their support. The society works tirelessly throughout the year to organise innovative careers events and comprehensive pro bono and mooting activities, alongside more traditional opportunities to socialise with your peers. In my second year, I was the careers and pro bono rep and the treasurer of the society in my final year. What I also find strong about the Law Society is that it works very closely with the School.

School support and guidance
As a School of Law student, you will receive strong academic and personal support to help you gain the most from your university experience.
Our induction programme is available to all students, as well as a dedicated Student Support Adviser, an excellent academic tutor system, and established student peer support programme.
School facilities and resources
The School of Law is based in Foxhill House, a stunning Grade II-listed building on the University's main campus. We have beautiful views of Whiteknights lake and are surrounded by parkland.
You will benefit from integrated IT and e-learning within the curriculum, in addition to a well-resourced library and electronic legal databases including Westlaw and LexisNexis.
Specialist careers consultant
Experienced and dedicated careers consultants are on hand to support you. They can help with writing CVs and cover letters, as well as applying and preparing for vacation schemes, interviews, mini-pupillages and other work experience opportunities
This service is available for up to 18 months after you graduate.
International students
For international students, we also offer pre-arrival support, including a specialised induction programme, dedicated library and career sessions, and law language teaching.
A full-time International Teaching Associate is also on hand to help you throughout your degree.

Our alumni take an active role in the education of our students, offering advice and work experience opportunities as well as support with our co-curricular activities, including networking, mediation and negotiation.
Alongside our alumni, the Reading School of Law works with a network of professionals contacts - both locally and nationally - who offer advice, guidance and work experience opportunities.
I chose to study law at Reading because I loved the structure of the lectures and tutorials. One thing that was a contributing factor was definitely Foxhill House. I loved the building and that it was just for law students. I could go there to revise or to do my assignments and if I felt stressed, I could just take a peaceful walk by the lake.
