Global law courses

We provide specialised LLM programmes that underpin the relationship between legal systems and the legal regulation of human rights, armed conflict, refugee movement, the use of force and other contemporary areas of global governance. On the programmes you will engage with academics working at the cutting-edge of research in these areas giving you unparalleled insights to help you forge a path in your career.

Commercial law courses

Become an expert in commercial law. You will study core and optional modules run by the School of Law and Henley Business School, offering you a multidisciplinary perspective on the subject. 

The year I spent at Reading was definitely my best academic year in all respects. The courses were extremely interesting, and my experience definitely gave me sufficient skill and knowledge to prepare myself to work in European law firms and institutions.

Master's by research

Our research programmes aim to provide you with an advanced set of skills that will serve you well within legal research or a wide range of other careers.

Double master's programmes

These programmes allow you to take postgraduate study at two institutions in the form of a double master's programme, completing two master’s programmes in two years. You will need to apply via the LLM International Commercial Law programme.

Want to study law at master's level but do not have the correct qualifications?

Make your first step into law with our range of conversion courses after completing an undergraduate degree in another discipline. Our collaboration with The University of Law makes Reading the ideal place to pursue your ambition to become a lawyer.

Our MLaw programme combines globally recognised research and teaching with expertise in professional practice to prepare you for qualification as a solicitor. This programme, delivered in partnership with the University of Law, combines the University of Reading's LLB Law with the University of Law's professional SQE1 and SQE2 preparation provision, preparing students to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).

Our law conversion courses are taught on-campus by the award-winning University of Law, including the popular Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PgDL), LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) and Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Boost your legal career

Whether you are studying with us before embarking on your career, or to switch careers, your postgraduate law qualification will enable you to go further. 

Graduates from our master's programmes have found employment with national and international law firms, as lawyers and as in-house legal counsels for large multinational companies in the UK and abroad, national and international courts, as well as international organisations and non-government organisations (NGOs).

Outside law, our graduates have been successful in global accountancy firms, the Civil Service, local government, and in the music and entertainment industries.

Fees, funding and scholarships

A variety of funding support is available to our master’s students.

Both UK and international students can apply for a range of scholarships. Our scholarships are awarded based on previous academic achievement

UK students can receive government loans to help towards tuition fees and living costs. You may also be eligible for other grants and bursaries.
