Background

Dr. Nnamdi Dimgba is a Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria. Graduating in the top 2 of his class at the University of Nigeria, Nnamdi was called to the Nigerian Bar in September 1999.

Recognized as Nigeria's leading expert on Competition Law, Nnamdi has had an exciting career and a remarkable mix of experiences. He started his professional career in the Tax and Legal Services Division of Arthur Andersen Nigeria (now KPMG Professional Services). Subsequent to his time at Arthur Andersen, he joined Olaniwun Ajayi LP (OALP) as a Senior Associate and the Head of the Enterprise Practice Group, and in this capacity, led teams that provided legal advice in the areas of Taxation, Mergers and Acquisitions, and on various transactions in the fields of Corporate and Commercial Law. After his initial time at OALP, Nnamdi joined another premier commercial practice, PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors, as Partner in charge of its Capital Markets, Banking and Finance Practice Group, and was actively involved in both the contentious and advisory aspects of the Group's work.

Nnamdi holds a BCL degree from the University of Oxford (Worcester College), a Certificate in US Law and Legal Methods from Suffolk University in Boston, USA and a PhD in Competition Law from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, where he was also a Lecturer in Company Law and Competition Law until 31 August, 2006 when he left to go back to legal practice in Nigeria. He is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards including the Shell Centenary/British Chevening Scholarship to the University of Oxford, the DFID Scholarship to the University of Cambridge, Doctoral Research scholarship, UWE Bristol, among others.

Nnamdi has written extensively in the fields of Nigerian competition and securities laws. Immediately prior to his appointment as a Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, he was the Chairman of the Competition Law Committee, Section on Business Law (SBL) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the Partner overseeing the Enterprise Practice Group of the leading Nigerian law firm of Olaniwun Ajayi LP.
