At Reading we offer you the opportunity to learn languages the flexible way, with a wide range of languages to study on their own, or in combination, on our BA Modern Languages course.

Alternatively, our modern languages joint degrees allow you to combine your language studies with another discipline, from one of our selection of partner subjects.

BA Modern Languages

Follow your passion for languages and develop a programme of study that's perfectly tailored to your strengths.

On this course you will be able to study one, two or three languages (choosing from French, German, Italian and Spanish) in combination, and choose from our additional language options.

You'll choose from our research-led culture modules and comparative modules, on subjects such as translation studies, global literatures and migration.

Joint courses

Maximise your time at university and boost your career prospects by combining your language studies with another subject.

Studying two subjects adds breadth to your knowledge base, enables you to meet a wider range of other students and equips you with skills from two different disciplines. You will also develop a broader range of transferable skills. Students who take joint courses degrees can demonstrate a range of competencies and abilities in a number of areas.

Fees and funding

There is a variety of funding support available to our undergraduate students. You may be eligible for government loans, grants or bursaries.

Students from the UK can receive government loans to help towards tuition fees and living costs. UK students may also be eligible for other grants and bursaries depending on their circumstances.
