Careers Team

About us

The Careers Service helps students prepare for a successful life and continues to support them for two years after their programme has ended. It also helps staff embed employability skills, careers curiosity and work-based learning in the curriculum, and understand how the various employability statistics relate to their programmes and schools. The Henley Careers team offers a similar set of services for students and staff of the Henley Business School.

Services for students

We help students understand the options available to them, and investigate their own strengths, values, and motivations. We can then support them to make excellent applications, and to succeed in selection activities. We can also help them make career decisions, such as which offer to take, whether to pursue further study, and prepare for promotions. We do all this via:

  • Careers 24/7, our online Blackboard course, and the Careers webpages are full of careers materials and support.
  • Various schemes and initiatives are available for students to gain work experience and develop essential skills, including RED Awards, The Reading Internship Scheme, THRIVE Mentoring, UROP, and Campus Jobs.
  • An extensive events program, including workshops, career advice sessions, fairs, and recruitment events, is offered, with options for in-person and webinar attendance. These events are bookable via the My Jobs Online account.
  • 1:1 career and placement appointments are available every workday, either in person at the Carrington Building or remotely via MS Teams or phone. Students can book appointments on My Jobs Online or by calling the Careers team.
  • Dedicated support is provided for finalists during their final year to help alleviate the pressure surrounding their future careers.
