Master of Architecture

The Part 2 Master of Architecture (MArch) is a collaboration with our Urban Living research group, drawing on the wide expertise of the group, including particular strengths in societal change, and is further informed by our industry partners. It is designed to prepare you to critically and imaginatively respond to societal, environmental and technological challenges facing twenty-first century architects.

Your application and portfolio

In addition to a Part 1 ARB validated (prescribed) award (or overseas equivalent), we look for a portfolio that shows evidence of potential for postgraduate study.

Your future career

On completion of our MArch you will be required to complete a period of professional experience and the related examination to be eligible to achieve status as a registered UK Architect.

Our research-led education enables you to enter the world of work as a reflective practitioner or practitioner researcher.

In addition to key creative, technical and professional skills, the MArch offers a strong foundation in research methods to prepare you to join PhD programmes in both traditional and practice modes in architecture and related disciplines.

Scholarships and funding

Students enrolling on our MArch in 2025, who hold a first-class honours degree, have the opportunity to secure a scholarship worth £1,000 for each of the two years of the course. Subject to conditions for 2025 entry.

We also offer an Alumni discount, which is applied as 20% reduction in annual tuition fees.
