Many of our academics are well-known within the scientific world. For example, Professor Chris Collins' research into the bioavailability and bioaccessability of environmental pollutants has been recognised by appointments to two Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) committees that advise the UK government on the environmental chemistry of hazardous substances and veterinary products.
Professor Hannah Cloke's research on flooding focuses on developing techniques to help us prepare better for flooding by improving forecasting. It saves lives through improving early warning systems in flood-prone parts of the world, and reduces the impact of flooding on businesses.

Overall, 92% of graduates from Geography and Environmental Science are in work or further study within 15 months of graduation (based on our analysis of HESA data © HESA 2023, Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020/21; includes all Geography and Environmental Science responders).
